GUPS Executives-Elect to be sworn in tomorrow

The Executives- Elect of the Ghana Union of Professional Students GUPS will be sworn in for a one-year term at the Bluecrest University College in Accra, Ghana.

The ceremony will take place tomorrow Saturday June 18, 2022 at exactly 5pm.

The GUPS Handing-over and Swearing in ceremony is under the theme “ Grooming The Next Generation of Professional Leaders through Self Empowerment “

The event will include a number of dignitaries, the Chief Executive Officer CEO of National Petroleum Authority Hon. Dr. Mustapha Abdul Hamid would be the special guest of honor.

Other guests of honors include The Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry, Hon. Micheal Okyere Baafi, the Chief Executive Officer of NEIP, Hon. Kofi Nkansah, the Chief Executive Officer of GIFEC Mr. Prince Osei Ofosu, the Paramount Stool Father of Osu Traditional Area, Osu Seitse, Hon Akosua Saah Manu the Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the National Youth Authority, the Director of Operations at the office of the Vice President, Hon. Salam Mustafa and the Rector of Bluecrest University College Dr. Sujith Jayaprakash.

The various aspirants who won the 2022 GUPS elections are Miss Emily Jemima Nyarko, President, Master Asare Murphy Eric, General Secretary , Master Stephen Opoku Amoako, Treasurer, Miss Edith Gyekye, Coordinating Secretary, Miss Margaret Yankson, Woman’s Commissioner and Mrs Charity Teye, International Relationship Secretary.

GUPS 20th annual delegates’ congress took place at King’s University on Saturday, May 21st 2022.

All Students are invited for tomorrow’s event.

Ghana Union of Professional Students (GUPS) is a democratic, non-partisan, non-sectarian mass movement of professional students of Ghana. The union’s outlook embraces all democratic, revolutionary, progressive ideals and principles including those against imperialism, poverty, corruption, racism, tribalism, illiteracy, for national development and socio economic advancement.

The motto of the union is ‘FOSTERING UNITY’ and its slogan is

The Ghana Union of Professional Students which began as a Society for Professional Institute (SPI) in the 1990’s had tertiary institutions like the Institute of Professional Studies now UPSA, the Ghana Institute of Journalism (GIJ), The National Film and Television Institute (NAFTI) , Ghana Institute of Languages ( GIL) and other professional institutes as it founding members.

The then Society for Professional Institute (SPI ) evolved through constitutional and structural adjustment to become the Ghana Union of Professional students in 2001 after more professional universities had been ratified into her fold.

Currently, the union remains the single and largest umbrella body of professional students in the country. GUPS is now made up of 15 ratified institutions and is headquartered in the former PWD building adjacent the Independence Square, Accra.
